Organ Tracking

Organ Tracking System Project

Providing expertise in software development and sensor integration. Assisting in the design and implementation of the user interface. Supporting the transition from prototype to commercial deployment. Ensuring the system's scalability and reliability for real-world applications.

Problem/Trigger Event/Background

Transporting organs is a time-sensitive and complex process with life-or-death consequences. Traditional organ transport methods lack oversight, leading to risks of loss, misplacement, or delivery delays, which can reduce the quality or non-viability of organs for transplant. This critical issue necessitates a more reliable and transparent tracking system.

Motivation

The motivation behind the Organ Tracking System project is to build a fully integrated, transparent system that ensures the safe and timely transport of organs. Our goal is to improve the quality and predictability of organ transplants by providing real-time tracking and monitoring of the entire transportation process.

Project Team

Our committed project team consists of specialists in software development, sensor technology, and logistics. We are working closely with the client in an agile software development process ensuring progress and customer satisfaction.

Funding Source

The Organ Tracking System project is a direct software development contract with the client.

Approach

Our approach involves:

Data Collection: Utilizing GPS trackers, temperature sensors, and impact sensors to monitor the status of the organ delivery box.

Software Development: On behalf of the client, Fraunhofer USA established the software development infrastructure and the development process. Setup a scalable software platform that enabled continuous deployment and high availability.

User Interface Design: Providing expertise for a user-friendly application interface for real-time monitoring.

Prototype to Deployment: Assisting the company in developing their vision from an initial prototype to commercial deployment.

Conclusion

The Organ Tracking System project aims to revolutionize the way organs are transported, ensuring real-time tracking and monitoring for improved logistic planning and organ quality prediction. By providing a transparent and reliable tracking system, we help ensure the safe and timely delivery of organs, ultimately enhancing the success rate of transplants.
